At Coed-y-Garn. we are committed to understanding the needs of all learners and supporting them with their unique experiences throughout education. One such group that we aim to support is young carers.

'A young carer is someone under 18 years old who looks after or helps to look after someone in their household who is mentally or physically unwell, disabled or misuses drugs or alcohol.' 

We are finding a lot of our young carers are caring for other people in their community such as a family member, neighbour or friend.

They DO NOT need to be registered with a young carers service, if you believe they have a caring role please speak to our Young Carer lead in school, Mrs Hampton. 

At CyG, we believe it is important to recognise these responsibilities and ensure young carers receive the support that they need.
